Adam’s P90X Transformation

By on Aug 15, 2013 in Weight loss success stories | 0 comments

I’m excited for today’s blog because I get to share Adam’s P90X transformation with you all.  Adam has been in one of our Facebook weight loss support groups and he absolutely crushed his first 90 days of P90X losing 72 lbs!  I think that may be a TD Nation record for weight loss in 90 days.  It’s not uncommon for members of our team to drop 20-40 lbs in 90 days but losing 72 means you were totally dialed in and crushed it!  The best part is that he is not satisfied and is continuing on with his health and fitness journey.  Here are Adam’s before and after pics and his story in his own words.  Congrats again Adam!  TD Nation couldn’t be prouder of the changes you have made in your life!

Adam's P90X Transformation

90 days ago I started on a journey that changed my life. I have always been a big person. From the time I was in the fourth grade I was a big person. I ate junk my entire life. In high school I was able to stay fit with sports and other activities so it counter balanced all the garbage I was eating. After high school is when my weight started to become an issue. Not at first but over the past 10 years I have slowly put on more and more weight. It wasn’t until this year that I really felt it was out of control. I was eating nonstop and eating the worst stuff you could imagine. I would eat a monster biscuit from Hardees then I would eat a double cheeseburger from Wendy’s and then I would eat a Digiorno pizza at 11pm. I was slowly killing myself but I didn’t care because I thought I was happy.

In April my life was changed. My son was born on April 19th and my world was turned upside down. I realized how important it was for me to get my weight in order. I started looking into different weight loss programs and was introduced to p90x by my great friends Kory and Justine Holt. They had been on the diet for a while and they were seeing incredible results. I thought about it for a couple of weeks and decided to give it a shot. I was skeptical at first like I am sure most of you are. I thought to myself, how can a workout video that I do in my basement give me the same results as people who go to the gym for months or years? I dove into it head first and decided even if it doesn’t work I am going to give it 100%. The first week killed me and I could tell I was not in any kind of shape except for fat. A couple of weeks into it the weight was literally falling off of my body. I was losing close to 10 pounds a week for a while. I was changing my life and it felt great.

As the program progressed I could tell I was getting stronger. I was able to do more pushups than ever before and the muscle tone was starting to show through. The harder I pushed the better I felt. As I entered the last 30 days I was 25 pounds away from my overall goal of 185. I never thought I would even be that close at the end of the 90 days let alone with 30 to go. Then it happened, the dreaded plateau. I had been waiting for it for a while and was surprised that I hadn’t come across it yet. So the last 2 weeks I battled the plateau and tried to break through it. Slowly but surely I came out of it. I was stuck at the 198 range and was able to get my weight down to 193 by the end of the 90 days.

In closing I would like to express how thankful I am for each and every person that helped push me along the way. Everyone in the support group that helped me achieve my goals. Lance for being the great inspiration that you are and Steve my coach for the words of encouragement whenever I needed it. I know you guys are passionate about what you do and I am very thankful for that. I want to thank my loving wife Samantha for her inspiration and her ability to push me more than anyone else. She was the first person to encourage me to do this and was there every step of the way, even when I cooked broccoli and she hates the smell. And lastly I would like to say this to anyone and everyone that reads this. It doesn’t matter how big you are, how long it’s been since you worked out or how athletic you are. All that matters is how bad do you want it and how hard do you want to push yourself. If you put your mind to this program and push yourself as hard as you can every day you will be able to achieve the goals that you set for yourself.

Thank You

Adam Smith
